Class Act ~ Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend, it's been freezing today and we've had a small scattering of snow. Not able to do any crafting at the moment as my crafting area is having some alterations and the wall was being built today, so I'm impatiently waiting to start crafting and sewing again. I'm surprised how grumpy I get when I can't make something, crafting certainly is an addiction! In the meantime I'm sharing with you my DT make for the latest Fashionable Stamping Challenge the theme is Black, Brown and Red and certainly not my usual choice of colours, but I rather like the combination. As we are a stamping challenge we do like to see stamping on your project and definitely no digis please. Our sponsor is Cottage Crafts and Marina is offering a prize for the winner of the random draw. Please do pop over to the FS HQ for lots of lovely inspiration from my fellow Stampettes.

The background of my card is Tim Holtz tissue paper which I glued onto card and then painted with a wash of fresco finish paint then stamped and tinted with distress inks. The central stamp is from the stampsmith and is from a plate called 'Isn't She Lovely' it has been stamped in black archival ink and  tinted with photo markers. I added a lace doily and then diecut some cordinations distress paper with a cheery lynn french pastry die. Finally ruching up some grossgrain ribbon and of course I had to add a few stitches. I made the flower embellishment from some scraps of fabric.

Hope you have a great Sunday and manage to squeeze in a spot of crafting. Take care. xx

A bit of Suzi for Sam

Something different from my usual style. I bought a couple of Suzi Blu stamps a while ago, and seeing as it was Crafty Sam's birthday and she loves her Suzi (not quite as much as that cute Poppy of course!) I thought this would be an ideal card for her. I got incredibly inky making this, my hands were blue for days, but I enjoyed making something different, but of course I had to add some stitching.

Hope you all have a lovely day and I'll be back on Sunday for the latest Fashionable Stamping Challenge.

Take care and Happy Crafting xx

Country florals

I finally got my back pack finished. It's rather reminiscent of a quilted dressing I had as a child, which has rather put me off it LOL! It used quite a lot of fabric and this floral print probably wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was the only one that I had enough of and as it was my first time of making one I didn't want to buy more fabric in case I made a pig's ear of it. It's lined in the gingham fabric and has padded shoulder straps. It has three pockets inside and the patch pocket on the front. It was also larger than I expected, but was ideal when I went on my first workshop on Saturday (I will show you what I made later in the week when I get around to photographing it) But it had rather too much hand sewing,  bias binding is now a dirty word in our house!!

Hope you all have a lovely day and I'm looking forward to enjoying browsing your blogs later.

Be My Love

Happy Valentine's Day my lovely bloggers. As card making is not my forte, and especially masculine themed cards, this serves a dual purpose as an Anniversary card for my Hubby too. Rather mean of me seeing as I get two cards, but hey mine are handcrafted LOL!!

I'm always stumped when it comes to male cards, and I sat staring into space for ages trying to think of something to make, not helped by the fact that I don't have many masculine stamps. In the end I used some pretty pion design papers and stuck to a neutral colour palette and added a little stamping onto a plain tag and added some lace and stitching. I finished by making a little padded heart, rather girly really (but he seems to like it, tact is one of his strong points LOL!) and its the thought that counts anyway te he!!

I hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day and manage to sneak in a spot of crafting in between all the champagne and chocolates!

Birds ~ Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Birds is the latest Fashionable Stamping Challenge, chosen by my lovely teamie Yvonne. Please do head over to FSC HQ for lots of lovely inspirational projects from those Stampettes. Please do remember we are a stamping challenge and so do need to see some form of stamping on your work and definitely no digis please. The winner of our random draw will win a prize from our sponsors Cottage Crafts so please have ago and join our challenge.

I decided to alter that MDF box I was talking about in an earlier post. It's a large box and and I got decidedly messy  painting it LOL! It started off a dark cream, then I changed my mind as it looked too yellow, so it was painted white. Then I used fresco finish paints in blues and a coffee matt emulsion and sponged randomly.

I used some craftersworkshop masks and mainly La Blanche stamps and inktense pencils. The swirls on the sides of the box are made using a crafty individuals stencil and viva ferro paint.

Crafty Individuals ~ February Challenge

The current theme for Crafy Individuals challenge is For A Friend. Lots of scope for this one. I've used one of my favourite stamps for this project CI - 342. The heart designs are so intricate and stamp beautifully. I also used TAP to transfer the design to fabric, which was then stitched onto some red velvet. ( A bargain from IKEA.) Then I made a little red velvet purse with some polka dot lining. Sorry about the picture the red was difficult to photograph.

I used the other heart in the stamp set to make this very simple card. The only embellishment is the white pearls around the edge. I used the Tim Holtz cabinet card die to make the card. You can't really see in this photo, but the stamped image is inside the card.

Please do pop over to the Crafty Individuals Blog for lots of inspiration and it would be great if you could come and join the challenge this month.

Thanks again for all the lovely comments you are leaving, I so enjoy reading them.

Hearts and Roses

Whilst having a rummage in my stash I rediscovered a large MDF heart and seeing it will soon be my wedding anniversary and Valentines Day, I came over all romantic! I painted the heart with a few  coats of matt emulsion and got rather carried away with stencilling and stamping. I used inktense pencils and distress inks to colour the heart and viva ferro paint for the stencilling. Then some balsam wax to seal the heart.

These MDF shapes are great for stamping on as they are lovely and smooth. I've had an MDF box waiting patiently to be altered for over a year now so I think it's high time that had a makeover too.
But it may have to wait a little longer as I'm in the middle of making a backpack and I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew as it has loads of pieces and it has already taken me ages to quilt the fabric and then just cut out the pieces without even starting sewing. I know I'll rush it too as I'm very impatient, my head always seems to full of the next craft project to start. Anyhoo enough of the waffle!
